GREENWICH-POST: Home Green Advantage supports Hole in the Wall Gang Camp
Geoffrey Zakarian, chef, author, restaurateur, and television personality and Michael Lehrer, Home Green Advantage.
Home Green Advantage lent its support to the charitable organization The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp at the fourth annual Greenwich Wine + Food Festival.
The company set up a 27-foot golf green for a putting contest in which all proceeds would benefit the charity. Home Green Advantage gathered with dozens of other sponsors and thousands of local foodies at Roger Sherman Baldwin Park to enjoy three days of food, drink and fun. The festival included live demonstrations, competitions, and performances by local musicians and interviews with celebrity guests.
The putting green Home Green Advantage provided was by the harbor. Festival-goers could test their skill by attempting to hit a hole in one to receive a prize supplied by The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp. Each putter was given three golf balls for a $5 donation.
The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is a nonprofit organization founded by Paul Newman in 1988 that allows children with severe medical conditions to experience the spirit, camaraderie, and personal growth opportunity that camp offers. The camp serves more than 30,000 children and their families in the Northeast each year, and all services are provided free of charge. The Wine + Food Festival brought together 175 local vendors for a celebration to the benefit of this charity.
“The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp is such a wonderful organization, and it was great to be able to help support their important mission,” Home Green Advantage founder Michael Lehrer said. “I was happy to have a part in giving back and making this fundraiser a success.”
By the time the festival wrapped up, nearly $40,000 was raised for The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.
